Shell Islands Garden Club to conduct first meeting of the fall season
This fall, as residents return to Sanibel from up north, they will be eager to spruce up their yards and lanai. Lucky for the Shell Islands Garden Club, landscape designer Sue Ritchie has consented to speak at the first club meeting of the season.
Ritchie is well known on Sanibel as the manager of the garden center at Forever Green Ace Hardware. Sue is always helpful when choosing suitable plants along with advice on soil preparation, watering and feeding of horticulture on these tropical islands.
At the meeting, to be held at Saint Michael and All Angels Church on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m., members will benefit from the experience of a garden professional. She will give a presentation and answer questions. Members are reminded to bring a sandwich while hostesses will supply desserts and beverages.
Over the summer, many club members were able to get together for lunch and various activities and enjoyed friendships thru the year. This year, the members of the club can look forward to an exciting series of programs and activities, such as workshops, lectures, an auction, trips and good times.
If you have an interest in horticulture, floral arranging or gardening, please consider becoming a member. For information, please call club president Lisa Newmeyer Cochrane at 472-8875.
