Democratic Party leader to speak to island Dems tonight
Tonight at 7 p.m. at the Sanibel Public Library, the Democratic Club of the Islands will hear from Will Prather, the newly-elected Chairman of the Democratic Party of Lee County.
The impresario of the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers and the Executive Producer and owner of the largest operator of dinner theatres across the country, Prather’s businesses currently entertain some 500,000 guests each year in his dinner theatres and his productions for the national touring market.
Prather will speak to island Democrats about the changing political landscape in Lee County and the Democratic Party of Lee County’s efforts to capitalize on the Obama victory and expand on the theme of “Keeping The Drive Alive.” Industry publications have called Prather a “Master of Renovation” for his theatre business innovations, and now he is bringing his business philosophy of constant reinvention to the Lee County Democratic Party.
A self-confessed political junkie, Prather’s Broadway Palm Theatre – in addition to its dinner theatre shows, concerts and children’s theatre – serves a wide range of community organizations. He generously gives these organizations the room for free, and charges them only nominal fees for food and drinks. Prather has been involved with many non-profit groups in Fort Myers, personally and through the theatre, donating time and money.
Although often traveling between theaters, Prather’s high energy level gives him time for his family in Fort Myers while maintaining his strong commitment to Democratic Party politics and his wide-ranging community involvement in Southwest Florida.
Come and hear this dynamic new leader lay out the new role he sees for Lee County Democrats at the Democratic Club of the Islands’ regular monthly meeting. The Sanibel Public Library is located at 770 Dunlop Road.
The Democratic Club of the Islands is an authorized organization of the Lee County Democratic Executive Committee, organized to stimulate interest in political and governmental affairs, to educate the electorate about issues, to further the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party, to support Democratic Party nominees in national, sate and local campaigns and to foster good fellowship among Democrats on Sanibel and Captiva Islands.
