Rusty Brown returns in ‘Painted Women’ performance

1 min read

On Jan. 19 Rusty Brown, local Fort Myers feminist historian, will tell the true but little-known stories of the female subjects in famous portraits.

This illustrated presentation will disclose the scandal touched off by John Singer Sargent’s sensuous portrait of a Parisian socialite. Why did Andrew Wyeth hide the sketches and paintings of a woman who secretly modeled for him for 15 years? Who was the nude in the famous Rembrandt portrait painted in 1654?

These and other intrigues make up this unique entertainment. Lunch will feature grilled chicken, salad greens, fresh fruit, mini sweets and beverage. This delightful event is sponsored by Sanibel Holiday.

Members and guests won’t want to miss this special occasion and one woman play at The Community House, 2175 Periwinkle Way. Members $20 Guests $22. Lunch seating begins at 11:30 am. Brown’s performance to follow at 1 pm.

Call The Community House at 472-2155 to make reservations.
