Illuminating the Darkness
The Sanibel Sea School held its inaugural luminary at South Seas Island Resort the day before Thanksgiving. It took a small army of people and nearly 600 luminaries to create six 15-to-20-foot glowing dolphins on the beach. Approximately 60 families were guided by tiki torches along the path to the luminary, which was in conjunction with the sea school’s annual Thanksgiving beach walk. Sanibel Sea School co-founder Evelyn Neill was the brainchild behind the dolphin design to represent being thankful for our marine life and their habitat the ocean.
