Student dancers from Kathleen More’s dance classes performed a recital at BIG ARTS Schein Performance Hall on May 24. Dancers have been practicing their routines for many months in the dance and fitness room at the Sanibel Recreation Center.

Preschool students performed a ballet routine featuring China Doll, and the kindergarten and first grade ballet class performed to So This is Love. The fourth and fifth graders performed several numbers including Butterfly Fly Away.

Instructor Kathleen More has taught many styles of dance for children at Edison College, Sanibel Fitness Center, BIG ARTS, and as YMCA Dance Director. More’s goal is to inspire and motivate her students, and to instill in them the love of dance.

“This year our theme is about the beauty of dance, and how it makes us feel – from ballet to hip-hop,” More said. “We celebrate the benefits and beauty of dance and its ability to enrich our lives, our bodies, our spirit and out love of dance.”

BIG ARTS dance classes and workshops are sponsored by Sony Corporation of America. Information about upcoming youth dance class will be available this fall.
