Southwest Florida artist Pat Dunn's painting "All Started In Paris" will be featured at her upcoming exhibit, ”Journey to an Exhibition.”

Nationally known fine arts impressionist painter Pat Dunn, will have an opening reception for her exhibit, “Journey to an Exhibition” at the Cape Coral Art Studio on Friday, Oct. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Dunn’s paintings are found in collections throughout the United States. She is most known for her unique talent painting florals locally as well as water lilies painted onsite in Monet’s garden in Giverny, France. This exhibit features the subjects of artists painting en plein air, students engaged with a master teacher or landscapes that inspired Dunn to celebrate her talents.

“Journey to an Exhibition” is a celebration of Dunn’s journey as an artist. Dunn explained, “This has been a project of woven memories, profound beauties, inspiring interactions and stimulating teachings along the way.”

Live music will be provided that evening by harpist Elizabeth Lilly. The exhibit continues through Oct. 28.

Dunn has had a life-long interest and appreciation for art. Painting became her passion after an extended medical technologist career in her native Louisiana. She studied and painted with the late Gale Bennett here in Southwest Florida and on location in Claude Monet’s garden in Giverny, France, where she painted and studied with him for several years.

Bennett was an internationally-known abstract impressionist painter from Fort Myers and Cape Coral who lived and taught painting in Giverny, France and Florida.

“I find myself wanting to be a creative communicator,” said Dunn. “One’s art journey never has a final destination. My journey will continue long after the show closes and go on as long as I am able to hold a brush to the canvas or feel the passion of the experience of painting.”

Dunn has exhibited in Fort Myers, Sanibel, Bonita Springs, Useppa Island and Sarasota, Fla. and Giverny, France and has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout Southwest Florida.

The Cape Coral Arts Studio is located at 4533 Coronado in Cape Coral. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
