Kids get creative at the Captiva Memorial Library
Last Thursday, the Captiva Memorial Library hosted a special craft session where children and teens created their own under-the-sea themed license plates.
With a wide array of colorful markers, stickers, crayons and glitter paint, library associate Naomi Pastor showed attendees how to decorate their own paper versions of car license plates.
Every Thursday, the library features a special program. On Thursday, July 22, Robbie the Ringmaster will present his “Under the Sea Magic Show.” The show begins at 3 p.m.
“All summer long we’ve been making a splash with reading. The kids have all been doing a great job and we’ve had quite a few people joining us each week. They’ve been having great fun, not only reading, but making projects and watching the presenters,” Pastor said.
Until August, the library is hosting “Make a Splash: Read!” which allows children to read and record their titles in exchange for fun prizes. Teens can also participate in the “Watch It! Read It! Win It!” program by reading books or watching movies and then submitting a written review of the piece to the library. Each review earns the reviewer “teen bucks” which they can later use to bid on items such as gift cards at the “End of Summer Party.”
