BIG ARTS seeking entries for March 2011 filmmakers event
BIG ARTS Film Society is seeking film entries for its Filmmakers Showcase, where the work of local film producers will be screened and the audience will have access to meet and talk with those who produced the films. The screenings will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
To enter your film into this event, download the application at www.BIGARTS.org, found on the “Film” page. Send your application and production in DVD format to: Filmmakers Showcase, BIG ARTS, 900 Dunlop Road, Sanibel, FL 33957. There is no entry fee.
The entry deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2010.
Any local filmmaker may enter their work for the Showcase. All films must be produced by Southwest Florida residents, and not exceed one hour in running time. The Committee will also be looking at YouTube shorts to encourage first timers and student filmmakers to submit their work.
The Showcase Program was first piloted in November 2009 in response to numerous requests from local filmmakers for an opportunity to show their films on the big screen at BIG ARTS. Based on the positive response and feedback, BIG ARTS Film Society decided to make this Showcase an annual event.
The newly-formed Filmmakers Showcase Committee is comprised of four filmmakers: David E. Carter, a Clio and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker whose most recent work is “Ashland’s Field of Dreams,” a documentary about 1950’s baseball in a small Kentucky town; Connie Bottinelli, a multiple Emmy and International award-winning documentary filmmaker; Rusty Farst, Chairman of the Filmmakers Showcase, who is currently in production with the film, “The Incorporation of Sanibel, Birth of a City”; and JR Pascall, Chairman of the BIG ARTS Film Society and member of the BIG ARTS Board of Directors.
“As a group, we are all pleased” said Rusty Farst, “to be able to provide through BIG ARTS, an on-going showcase for local and aspiring filmmakers.”
