On Thursday, Feb. 18, the Captiva Civic Association will host an opening reception for an exhibit of works by Southwest Florida artist Steve Bufter.

“Steve’s paintings are colorful, visually striking and many of them are a of size that has a lot of visual impact – about three by three feet,” said Sharon Brace of the CCA. “It will be a nice contrast to our recent exhibit and it shows that we offer a broad range of art for our viewers.”

Bufter was born in Baltimore, Md. and studied music and the arts at Western Maryland College where he earned his degree.

He now resides in southwest Florida where he paints and exhibits regularly, including the Art Modern Gallery in Naples and the Tower Gallery on Sanibel.

In Bufter’s book of artwork entitled, “Post-Stress Eclectic,” Art Modern Gallery director Robert Fontaine describes Bufter’s work as a representation of “creative thinking that is both unique and inventive.

“This exhibit at the CCA will be an eclectic collection of my recent art. I think there will be something there that everybody will find interesting,” Bufter said.

The opening reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The Captiva Civic Association is located at 11550 Chapin Lane. For more information, call 472-2111.
