Live music, dancing at the Sanibel Community House

2 min read

Whether you have been looking for a place to waltz, fox trot, polka or just like to hear great standards played by a six-piece band, the Sanibel Community House is the place to go several Monday nights to enjoy the Island Jazz and Dance Band.

Locals and visitors share tables and in so doing share conversations ranging from where they are from to how great the shelling is. A large group of dancers from on and off island rarely leave the dance floor once the music starts, so people watching is fun, too.

Island Jazz and Dance Band members are well-known favorites around town: Tom Cooley on drums, Harry Reiner on trumpet, Gene Federico on guitar and vocals are joined by other musicians and singers to keep the music fresh and innovative.

A popular addition before the band starts is a complete dinner prepared by Bailey’s General Store. On Monday, Feb. 22, the buffet is beef stroganoff, broccoli cauliflower, rolls, key lime cake and ice cream. A cash bar is also available. Enjoy a night out at a very reasonable price.

Tickets for the music and dance only are $5. Tickets with dinner included are $15. Reservations are recommended, please. For more information, call the Sanibel Community House at 472-2155.
