The Southwest Florida Symphony takes the Chamber Orchestra out to Cape Coral for the first time in the 2009-10 season with “Playfully Yours” on Friday, Nov. 13 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral beginning at 7:30 p.m.

If you happen to miss this evening or love it and want to see it again, the Southwest Florida Symphony will be performing an encore presentation of “Playfully Yours” as part of the Sanibel Series on Sunday, Nov. 15 at BIG Arts starting at 7 p.m.

This program will feature light-hearted pieces such as Rossini’s comedic overture La scala di seta “The Silken Ladder,” which has comic moments for everyone to enjoy. Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony, with its various passages that were initially intended as musical jokes for the listeners will have you guessing at where the punch line is. The program will hit its high point with Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto,” featuring concertmaster Reiko Niiya completing our fanciful journey as we spotlight one of the greatest and most well-known violin concertos of the Romantic era.

Let the Southwest Florida Symphony be a part of an enjoyable evening out with the family or with that someone special. Tickets start as low as $20.
