Sanibel’s Zell featured at Burroughs Home art showcase

Sanibel artist Peter Zell will be the featured artist at the Burroughs Home, 2505 First Street, Fort Myers, for two weeks beginning on Friday, Aug. 7.

Zell, an award-winning artist living and painting year-round in Southwest Florida, works mostly in oils but also paints in acrylics and watercolors. His favorite subject matters include landscapes, still lifes and figurative studies as well as island scenes and urban settings.

An active member of the Sanibel-Captiva Art League, BIG ARTS and the Art League of Fort Myers, Zell’s paintings will be on display through Aug. 21, beginning with an artist reception at the Burroughs Home from 6 to 10 p.m. as part of the August Art Walk on Aug. 7.

The Uncommon Friends Foundation participates in Art Walk every month. The Art Walk trolley will deliver patrons to the Burroughs Home during Art Walk on the first Friday each month.

Following the Art Walk, Zell’s paintings can be viewed through Aug. 21 weekdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and evenings and weekends by calling the Uncommon Friends Foundation at 239-337-9505 for an appointment. Proceeds from the sale of the Zell paintings will be shared with the Uncommon Friends Foundation.

The Uncommon Friends Foundation, established in 1993, is a character education foundation whose mission is to instill ethics, moral values and a sense of purpose in tomorrow’s leaders. The foundation is dedicated to enriching society by promoting the positive values author James D. Newton discovered in five unique men and their wives – Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Dr. Alexis Carrel, and Charles Lindbergh – intellectual giants who helped shape the 20th Century.
