Art League of Fort Myers will host an opening night reception for its “Still Life” Fine Arts Show on Friday, May 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the league gallery and gift shop, located at 1451 Monroe Street in the downtown River District.

Refreshments will be served and the “Young Artists’ Awards Students” will be the featured entertainment, performing and singing from 7 to 9 p.m. Come on in and enjoy the art on the wall and the artists singing! Admission is free and all are invited.

The art league reception coincides with “Fort Myers Art Walk,” a free downtown art celebration on the first Friday of each month showcasing nine local art galleries. The May 1 Art Walk will run from 6 until 10 p.m.

The “Still Life” Fine Arts Show is a judged exhibition featuring the multi-media work of artist members of the Southwest Florida Art Council. Oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings as well as collages, mixed media, fiber works and photography will be presented – all original works of art. The show will continue during gallery hours through May 30. The gallery and gift shop are open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Art League of Fort Myers has been operating in the downtown Fort Myers area since 1956. The league hosts workshops, still-life painting sessions and art classes in all media, and sponsors monthly juried and judged art shows along with special exhibitions featuring well-known artists. New members are always welcomed.
