Elvis set to entertain at ‘Lily Rocks For PURRE’ benefit
Elvis will be performing at a rock’n’roll benefit for the PURRE Water Coalition being held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7. No one knows exactly what time “The King” will make his appearance, but he has promised to perform a number of his fans’ favorites.
The festivities are taking place under a big tent in the parking lot at Lily & Co. Jewelry Gallery on Tarpon Bay Road as well as inside the store. There will be outdoor dancing, catered food, desserts and fantastic auctions of both live and silent auction items.
One of the live auction items is an original oil painting – “PURRE Tranquility” – created by Sanibel artist Myra Roberts. Myra said her painting, which she created especially for this event, “was inspired by the valiant and ongoing effort of the PURRE organization to keep our precious environment alive and healthy.”
“My painting represents the positive connection humans and nature share,” said Roberts. “One cannot do without the other. Tranquility is the feeling this painting evokes. Polluted water creates the opposite.”
The painting has been chosen by Myra’s publisher to grace the cover of her upcoming book.
“I think it has a spiritual quality that moves people in a positive direction, just like PURRE,” she said.
Other auction items include an original painted porcelain piece by Patty Sprankle, a large Luc Century original creation, a Sailor’s Valentine by Sandy Moran, an item from the Henderson Jewelry Collection of luxurious 18K Chocolate Brown Gold, and much more. Come dressed in a rock-n-roll costume for a chance to win a prize!
Tickets are $75 per person. Call Emilie Alfino, PURRE Administrator, at 239-274-7873 or send an e-mail to info@purre.org. Tickets are also available at Lily & Co., located at 520 Tarpon Bay Road.
