Zonta among Habitat for Humanity honorees
The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva was recognized at Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties’ Thank You Party on May 16 at the McGregor ReStore in Fort Myers.
The event celebrated the completion of its 14th Women Build season and honored the organizations and individuals who contributed to the successful program, which raised a total of $534,005.
For over 10 years, the club has supported Women Build in Lee with financial grants and hands-on service, funding and helping to build or rehabilitate homes for qualifying residents. In April and May, Zontians provided labor at building sites, such as exterior and interior painting and laying flooring.
“Women Build was extremely rewarding for the Zontians who participated,” club service co-chair Paula Friedman said. “We worked in small teams to lay 2,000 square feet of flooring in just one day. We went home exhausted but so happy to have helped bring someone’s lifelong dream of home ownership closer to reality.”
