Chapel names new officers, board members
The Captiva Chapel by the Sea held its annual meeting on April 14, where the board of associates announced the new officers and new members for the upcoming year of 2024-25.
The following officers were named: Ellen Sloan as president, Nathalie Pyle as vice president, George Campean as treasurer, Melissa Calkin as recording secretary and Valerie Tutor as corresponding secretary.
The new board members are Ed Anderson, Colin Black and Rita Ewell. In addition, the following members have retired: Mike Bennett, former treasurer; Susen Berg; and Jake Miller, former president.
Sloan has been a board member for three years and was formerly the rector at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sanibel for 10 years. She has been an Episcopal priest for 21 years. Before that, Sloan’s 25-year career was involved in education in New England, as well as in Venezuela and the Netherlands. She earned a Ph.D. in administration and organizational development from the University of Connecticut, where she was also a professor. Sloan is a year-round Sanibel resident.
The meeting also included presentations by various officers and committee chairs.
