The Children’s Education Center of the Islands kicked off its 50th anniversary, starting in May, with a Community Day Celebration on April 6 on Sanibel. The CECI welcomed back the public to see the changes since Hurricane Ian and learn about future plans to continue to make the school more resilient. Families and community members enjoyed free food, face painting, games, crafts and access to the playground. In addition, CECI raised over $2,000 in a silent gift basket auction featuring items from island businesses.
