To the editor:

I saw a news story on how Lee County solved a traffic issue by installing a roundabout with a water feature. Well, proves to me that Lee County is smarter than Sanibel when it comes to handling traffic in a safe, plus environmentally enhancing, manner. It keeps the vehicles moving, eliminating four-way traffic guard congestion points.

Roundabouts are a proven safer solution — ask any qualified traffic engineer! Sanibel needs to permanently lose the four-way intersections that stop traffic from moving, with idling fumes spewing.

Roundabouts will also save money every year on needless increasing repeat traffic guard expenses.
