F.I.S.H. to host monthly luncheon with speaker
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva is continuing its community-wide Friendly Faces Luncheon in a virtual format. Islanders can attend via the Zoom platform for games, conversation and guest speakers.
The next one will take place on Oct. 19 at noon, featuring guest speaker EPIC Islands Executive Director Tabitha Stadler. She will present information about Caribbean nature, why it is important and what is being done to conserve natural resources for future generations. It will include storytelling with video, a PowerPoint with photography, fun facts about various islands and audience participation.
EPIC — Environmental Protection in the Caribbean — Islands is a nonprofit, formed to protect the Caribbean environment through science, education, advocacy and stewardship. Named the executive director, Stadler splits her time between Florida and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Her career spans more than 20 years and encompasses leadership positions responsible for environmental education, science, research and policy.
“EPIC conservation is about working with people,” Stadler said. “Where nature and people interconnect is where EPIC teams work to improve outcomes.”
Prepared by George & Wendy’s and delivered by F.I.S.H. volunteers starting at 11:30 a.m., the lunch will consist of a cold entree, side, water bottle and dessert. The cost is waived and complimentary to all participants. Meal choice details are provided upon sign-up.
