IWA tank to be temporarily offline for repairs

By IWA - | Jul 28, 2021

The Island Water Association reported that its Periwinkle Way water storage tank will be temporarily removed from service on Aug. 1 to perform repairs. The work will take approximately one week to complete, with the tank expected to be back online on Aug. 10.

The tank is critical infrastructure, storing 2 million gallons of potable water serving peak demands throughout Sanibel, according to the IWA. The work has been scheduled to coincide with seasonal rains, which reduce turf and landscape irrigation use and the level of water demands placed on IWA’s systems.

IWA is asking customers to inspect their irrigation systems to ensure they are programmed in accordance with local irrigation ordinances. Both Sanibel and Captiva are under two-day-per-week watering regulations, based on property address.
