County library system providing virtual programming
The Lee County Library System, which includes the Captiva Memorial Library, is offering the following free virtual programming for all ages:
– July 28: Virtual Book Discussion for Adults at 10 a.m.
Calling all readers! A live virtual book discussion for adults. There is no assigned title. Instead, participants take turns sharing about the latest books that they have read. Advance registration required before July 28 at 10 a.m.
– Aug. 10: Organizing, Analyzing, and Sharing: Using Technology to Your Advantage at 10 a.m.
Put technology to work for you with software applications that can be used to analyze, organize and share your genealogical data. Computers can help us analyze our research to discover what information we do not have and need to find, and then how we can share it with other family members. The speaker will be Ann Staley, with the Florida State Genealogical Society and the Association of Professional Genealogists. Advance registration required.
– July 28: Meet the Author
Candace Fleming is the acclaimed author of over 40 books for children and young adults, including this year’s Sibert Medal Award Winning Book, “Honeybee: The Busy Life of Apis Mellifera.” Participants will also chat about her book “Cubs in the Tub.” Every animal needs a superpower to survive. Cheetahs have speed, chameleons have camouflage and birds have flight. Meet real live animal superheroes in this “wild” program.
– July 29: Bug Bites Recipe
Nut butter, honey, oats and “mix-ins” make these the best bug bites ever.
– July 30: Meet Bobby Norfolk
An internationally known storyteller, performer and teaching artist, Bobby Norfolk is a three-time Emmy Award winner, multiple Parents’ Choice Gold and Silver Award winner and a National Storytelling Network Oracle Award recipient. He will thrill participants with tales of the famous trickster Ananse the Spider.
