Man, woman struck by lightning on island beach
A couple were reportedly struck by lightning over the weekend on the beach on Sanibel.
On July 24 at approximately 4:52 p.m., a man and his wife were struck by lightning on the beach at the Sanibel Beach Club, at 626 Nerita St. The city reported that police officers arrived on scene and found bystanders performing CPR on the man. Bystanders were also attending to the woman, who was conscious and breathing.
Officers began CPR and deployed their AED and continued life saving measures until the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District and Lee County EMS arrived on scene. The city reported that both victims were transported to a local trauma center for further treatment and evaluation.
