Progressive Club to hold monthly meeting
The Progressive Club of the Islands will hold its virtual monthly meeting on June 17 at 4 p.m.
The guest speakers are John Cassani and K.C. Schulberg from the Calusa Waterkeeper. They will provide current information on the status of regional alga blooms, as well as discuss how the community can support the program.
In 1995, Cassani was the founding member of the Calusa Waterkeeper, a member of the International Waterkeeper Alliance. He started his professional life in 1978 after earning degrees in biology and fish and wildlife. From 1978 to 2014, Cassani was resource manager for local government, focusing on the waterways of Southwest Florida. An author of numerous scientific papers, he is frequently sought out by government, academic and private industry on a wide variety of water issues.
Schulberg, executive director, joined the Calusa Waterkeeper in 1998 serving the vital role of communicator with his background, which merges film, television, marketing and fundraising with hands-on civic engagement and community organizing.
