Practicing kindness on Captiva
To the editor:
Our family vacation in Captiva was magnificent! Not only from the beauty of the scenery, the relaxing atmosphere and wonderful food, but the kindness of one certain good Samaritan.
After we had enjoyed a very nice dinner in one of the local restaurants, we asked for the check and to our huge surprise, it had been already paid for by a complete stranger! And we were a party of seven!
We tried to reject the invitation from this kind man, but he would not hear of it. He would not even give us his name, saying that that was not important and that we were blessed, because we were a beautiful family. He is right about that, but we think that he is also blessed from practicing kindness like that. Our server told us that he was just a customer who had done the same for others before.
This experience taught us how important it is to spread kindness like that to repair our society and improve ourselves. The world certainly needs a little more Captiva Island kindness like that!
