Progressive Club to hold monthly meeting
The Progressive Club of the Islands will hold its virtual monthly meeting on March 18 at 4:45 p.m.
The guest speaker will be U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-St. Petersburg, who serves the 13th Congressional District. He will speak on state politics, focusing on the pandemic and on his efforts to ensure voting rights for Floridians, especially given the current trend to make access to voting more difficult in Florida and across the nation.
Crist has a long record of service to the state in leadership positions as a senator, commissioner of education, attorney general, governor and now as a congressman. He has most recently been tapped to serve on the Appropriations Committee, including the subcommittee of Defense. Crist is also serving on the Science Committee, which oversees NASA and space and climate change policy.
He has stated that he is committed to returning civility to the political discourse, and honors the “Golden Rule” every day as he works across the aisle to create jobs, raise wages, protect beaches, honor military and veterans, strengthen education, and ensure fair treatment for all.
It is an interactive meeting with time provided for questions. To attend the meeting, email email@example.com to receive the Zoom link or watch live at www.facebook.com/pcisancap.
Annual dues for the Progressive Club are $30 for an individual or $60 for a couple. To renew a membership or join, mail a check payable to PCI to: PCI, P.O. Box 898, Sanibel, FL 33957.
