Sherm Bedford, of Prospect, Kentucky, reported that he and his wife, Pat, walk the beach at the South Seas Island Resort on Captiva at least twice a day. During their morning walk on Feb. 4, he spied a large shark’s eye shell to add to their collection. Then later in the afternoon, Bedford found a junonia measuring about 3 1/2 inches in length. He reported that it was the first time they had seen one in their 17 years of walking that beach and they were amazed. Bedford added that the junonia was just sitting there among the other shells at the high water mark, and he and his wife wondered how many other folks had walked past the amazing shell and not seen it.
