County library system provides virtual programming

LEE COUNTY

The Lee County Library System, which includes the Captiva Memorial Library, is offering the following free virtual programming for all ages:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Today, Feb. 17: Medicare Part B at noon

Join SHINE for a Lunch & Learn series about how from paper to online impacts the Part B enrollment process. The presentation is offered in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving seniors and adults with disabilities. Advance registration required.

– Feb. 19: Basic ESOL & Digital Literacy at 6 p.m.

Learn English and digital literacy skills in a free virtual learning series. The classes are offered in partnership with Learning Empowered, an organization dedicated to helping community members have stable housing and the education they need for lifelong success. – Feb. 20: Genealogy Webinar, Map it Out in Ireland: Separating Names at 10 a.m.

Special presentation by Donna Moughty, from Irish Family Roots Inc. When determining which individual with the same name is your ancestor, knowing places of residence are important and maps can help. Learn how mapping Irish locations can provide important evidence. Advance registration required.

TEEN PROGRAMS

– Feb. 23: Live Teen Author Presentation at 7 p.m.

In partnership with Sourcebooks, Baker & Taylor will host an exclusive live virtual book club event for teens featuring New York Times best-selling author Ryan La Sala discussing his latest LGBTQ novel, “Be Dazzled.” The book is available electronically as an ebook using OverDrive or Libby. Advance registration required.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

– Today, Feb. 17: Storytime Anytime!

Enjoy storytime at home or on the go with Storytime Anytime! This is a condensed version of the in-person storytimes and includes a variety of songs, stories, rhymes and caregiver tips designed to promote and reinforce early literacy and language development.

The Captiva Memorial Library is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It continues to offer curbside hold pick up Tuesday through Saturday.
