The Sanibel Public Library’s “Fill-A-Bag for A Dollar” book sale kicked off on Feb. 8.

Continuing until the inventory is depleted, the books will be restocked daily and can be found in the library’s downstairs meeting room near the main entrance lobby. Proceeds from the sale go toward the Sanibel Public Library Foundation, which helps support programs at the library.

The foundation supports programs, such as the Children’s Summer Reading Program and Author Series, and technology services like the eShelf. Leveraging public tax dollar investment, it helps the library provide dynamic and engaging initiatives to enhance the library experience.

Locals and visitors can virtually attend World War II history programs with staffer Duane E. Shaffer via Zoom. No in-person programs are scheduled. On Feb. 12 at 10 a.m., he will present “1943 Operation Vengeance.” Visit www.sanlib.org and click on the link to login a few minutes beforehand to watch; no registration is required to login. More details and login instructions are on the Website. In addition, his “Operation Chastise” program held on Jan. 13 can be watched online; the link is on the home page.

Also, Shaffer has his WWII model airplanes on display in the library for February.
