Planning commission selects officers, forms subcommittees for year
The Sanibel Planning Commission welcomed two new faces and welcomed back one returning commissioner at its recent meeting, as well as picked its chair and vice for the new year.
During an organizational meeting on Jan. 26, newly-seated Commissioners Laura Debruce and Ty Symroski were introduced to the group, while Commissioner Paul Nichols returned to his prior seat. The Sanibel City Council discussed and appointed all three at its monthly meeting the week before.
Following the introductions, the commission discussed electing a new chair to serve until January 2022. Current Chair Roger Grogman was nominated to retain the position, with no opposition.
In an unanimous 7-0 vote, he was re-elected to serve as chair.
Afterward, the commission turned its attention to discussing the election of its vice chair for the year. Current Vice Chair Eric Pfeifer was nominated to retain the position, again with no opposition.
In another unanimous 7-0 vote, he was re-elected to serve as vice chair.
The commission then selected the following chairs and members for subcommittees:
– Below Market Rate Housing Review Subcommittee: Pfeifer will serve as chair, with Grogman, Commissioner Karen Storjohann, Debruce, Symroski and Nichols serving as members
– Capital Improvements Review Subcommittee: Storjohann will serve as chair, with Grogman, Pfeifer, Nichols and Debruce serving as members
