PHOTO PROVIDED Sanibel Public Library staffer Duane Shaffer will present a virtual program, “1943 Operation Vengeance,” on Feb. 12 at 10 a.m.

The Sanibel Public Library encourages and welcomes use of its collections and services.

Locals and visitors can virtually attend World War II history programs with staffer Duane E. Shaffer via Zoom. No in-person programs are scheduled. On Feb. 12 at 10 a.m., he will present “1943 Operation Vengeance.” Visit www.sanlib.org and click on the link to login a few minutes beforehand to watch; no registration is required to login. More details and login instructions are on the Website. In addition, his “Operation Chastise” program held on Jan. 13 can be watched online; the link is on the home page.

The library’s “Fill-A-Bag for A Dollar” book sale will start on Feb. 8 and continue until inventory is depleted. The books will be restocked daily and can be found in the downstairs meeting room near the main entrance lobby. Proceeds from the sale go toward the Sanibel Public Library Foundation, which helps support library programs, such as the Children’s Summer Reading Program and Author Series and technology services like the eShelf. Leveraging public tax dollar investment, the foundation helps the library provide dynamic and engaging initiatives to enhance experiences.

In addition, join Youth Services Librarian Deanna Evans for virtual storytimes, songs and smiles each week. Her online programs can be found on the library’s Children’s Page at sanlib.org/children.

The library continues to offer contact-less curbside service. To use the service, put items on hold online or make requests by calling 239-472-2483. You will be notified when your items are ready for pickup. Patrons have three days, excluding Saturday and Sunday, to pick up items. Hours are Monday to Friday from noon to 3 p.m.

Library cards are available to residents of Sanibel and Lee County at no charge.

Visitor library cards are available for a $10 annual fee.

The Sanibel Public Library is open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.

For more information, call 239-472-2483 or visit online at www.sanlib.org.
