F.I.S.H., LCSO partner for presentation
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will offer a presentation, “Scams, Identity Theft and COVID-19: Recognizing Red Flags,” on Feb. 8 beginning at 10 a.m. via Zoom.
Dr. Kim Swanson, crime prevention specialist with the LCSO’s Community Response Unit, will discuss new scam calls targeting the public that relate to COVID and the vaccine, pandemic updates or products, as well as other identity theft schemes. She will offer ideas for self-protection and provide answers and tips to help citizens recognize red flags.
Swanson has been working at the LCSO for the last 25 years where she has served as a deputy and public information officer. She has been an instructor for the Florida Attorney General’s Office Crime Prevention Training Institute, Florida Crime Prevention Association, Royal Palm Coast Realtor Association and National Sheriff’s Association Triad organization. Swanson also served as a board member for the Florida Crime Prevention Association and was the 2015 Florida Crime Prevention Practitioner of the Year.
