SCUCC, Bat Yam to host theological studies
Rabbi Stephen Fuchs, of the Bat Yam-Temple of the Islands, and the Rev. Dr. John H. Danner, of Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, will co-lead a class on theological studies.
“A Twentieth Century Prophet: The Life and Work of Abraham Joshua Heschel” will explore the life story of Heschel, as well as his ideas and interpretations of the Hebrew scripture prophets, with a special focus on Heschel’s work on justice and the Sabbath. He was an influential theologian of the last century in both Jewish and Christian circles. Heschel was also a colleague of Dr. Martin Luther King and worked with King in the struggle for civil rights.
Classes will take place on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. via Zoom from today, Jan. 13, to Jan. 27.
