Sanibel FlyFishers to hold meeting
The Sanibel FlyFishers will hold a meeting on Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. via Zoom.
The featured speaker is Kali Spurgin, with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Division of Marine Fisheries Management. She will discuss the state of the fishery in Southwest Florida and major concerns for the Pine Island Sound and region.
A FWC fisheries and wildlife biologist since 2016, Spurgin graduated in 2014 from Florida State University with a degree in biology/biological sciences. Between 2016 and 2019, she administered the statewide Lionfish Outreach and Control Program for the Division of Marine Fisheries Management. Since 2019, Spurgin has been the FWC regional marine biologist serving Southwest Florida.
