BIG ARTS offering virtual programming
BIG ARTS is hosting a variety of virtual programming as part of its 2021 season. For the first time, the public can enjoy gallery exhibits, lecture series and select workshops from the comfort of their home.
In response to the pandemic, BIG ARTS launched its first virtual gallery in June with Joshua Horkey’s exhibit “Fight or Flight” and has continued to offer a virtual component with each new one. The current exhibit is “Exploration,” the Sanibel-Captiva Art League and Art Council of Southwest Florida’s 45th Annual Juried Art Show. Take a high-definition, 3-D virtual stroll through the gallery at BIGARTS.org.
Starting with Jeff Selingo’s FORUM lecture today, BIG ARTS will live stream not only all the series lecturers, but also all six Talking Points presenters live from the Christensen Performance Hall. Typically a sold-out subscription series, FORUM lectures are open to the public for virtual tickets.
“It’s really incredible what our staff has done to work this out logistically over the last few months,” Executive Director Lee Ellen Harder said. “Their hard work has opened a whole new door of possibilities for BIG ARTS. We can now share the programming we are so passionate about with a much wider audience.”
Those who purchase a virtual ticket will receive a link via email, which they can use to log in at the time of the event. BIG ARTS will also include instructions on how to view the live stream on their television at home. Those who purchase the stream will also be able to participate in the live question-and-answer session by texting a phone number that will be provided on screen.
