Shell club awards grant to Conchologists of America
The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club’s board approved a $1,000 grant this year for the Conchologists of America as the eighth installment of a $10,000 perpetual grant award that will be called the Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club Award when the 10th year is reached. It is used for studies dealing with marine mollusca from the Gulf of Mexico and western Atlantic Ocean areas, with preference to Southwest Florida. The club awards grants from the proceeds of its annual Shell Show. They are given toward education and research in the fields of conchology and malacology, as well as for conservation and water quality projects, primarily in the region.
