Reported number of COVID-19 cases increase on Sanibel

UPDATE: As of today’s update, Sanibel’s total number of recorded cases has increased to 125.
Lee County has recorded 36,145 total cases of COVID-19 — 35,309 residents and 836 non-residents — including 124 between Sanibel and Captiva, according to the Florida Department of Health.
As of the Dec. 18 update, the DOH reported that it has recorded a total of 1,181,483 cases in Florida. The figure consists of 1,161,953 residents who tested positive, along with 19,530 non-residents.
There have been 20,401 deaths among Florida residents — 1.8 percent of the total cases.
There have been 630 deaths among residents in Lee — 1.8 percent of the total cases.
