Kiwanis Club awards holiday grants
The Kiwanis of Sanibel-Captiva recently provided special grants in the form of a year-end check to three local organizations: F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva, Community Housing and Resources, and Friends Who Care. Kiwanis President Bill Hay said: “It has been a difficult year for non-profits, particularly the community service agencies, and in this holiday period the needs of many of our fellow citizens are particularly great. Our club decided to depart from our normal cycle of awarding grants in the spring in order to provide some extra support now for some organizations which most directly respond to those fundamental needs.” The club supports island youth its scholarship program and grants to other non-profits providing educational, recreational and developmental programs for youths. Its work is funded by those who participate in the club’s fundraisers. For more information, visit www.sanibelkiwanis.org.
