LWV of Sanibel to host Candidate Forum
The League of Women Voters of Sanibel will sponsor a Candidate Forum for three Sanibel City Council seats on Feb. 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel. It will also be held as a live-steamed virtual Webinar due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID and in-person events.
A regular election for the three seats is scheduled for March 2 for the city of Sanibel.
Candidate qualifying will take place from Jan. 11-15.
The League of Women Voters of Sanibel hosts candidate forums in a credible non-partisan setting. Since its founding in 2010, it has hosted a number of candidate events that were moderated by qualified professionals. The questions are posed in a balanced way, including questions from the audience.
The moderator for the February forum will be Roger Green, professor and head of Florida Gulf Coast University’s Political Science Department. He worked with the Sanibel league on previous events.
It is the mission of the League of Women Voters to encourage informed and active participation in government. For over 100 years, its candidate debates and forums have been held in high regard.
