County library system providing virtual programs

LEE COUNTY

The Lee County Library System, which includes the Captiva Memorial Library, is offering the following free virtual programming for all ages:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Dec. 9: Medicare 101 at 2 p.m.

Join SHINE in a virtual classroom and learn the basics of Medicare and important enrollment periods. The class is designed to help attendees make an informed decision about Medicare. The presentation is offered in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving seniors and adults with disabilities. Advance registration required.

– Dec. 18: Author Series with Kimmery Martin

Kimmery Martin is an emergency medicine doctor-turned novelist whose works of medical fiction have been praised by The Harvard Crimson, Southern Living, The Charlotte Observer and The New York Times, among others. Her latest book is “The Antidote for Everything.” The presentation is part of an author series provided by the Florida Library Association, featuring award-winning and best-selling authors of various genres to inform, educate and entertain. Authors will spend time chatting about various topics, including: how they became a writer, their writing process, how libraries have impacted their career and audience Q&A.

– Dec. 21: Financial Assistance at noon

Join SHINE in a Lunch & Learn series and learn about financial assistance. Living on a fixed income? Attendees could be eligible to save money on out-of-pocket medical and prescription drug expenses and learn about cost-saving programs. The presentation is offered in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving seniors and adults with disabilities. Advance registration required.

– Dec. 9: Stay At Home Storytime at 10 a.m.

The Captiva Memorial Library is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The branch will be closed on Dec. 24-25 for the Christmas holiday.

It continues to offer curbside hold pick up Tuesday through Saturday.
