City to host community blood drive
The city of Sanibel is sponsoring the Lee Health Blood Center’s Bloodmobile on Dec. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the front parking lot of the Sanibel Public Library, at 770 Dunlop Road, Sanibel.
Donors must wear facial coverings and will receive a mini-physical that will include check of temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and hemoglobin.
Donors must be 17 years or older and weight at least 115 pounds.
To reduce wait time, donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment by emailing crystal.mansell@mysanibel.com; provide full name, contact information and preferred time.
Appointments fill quickly and will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The Lee Health System is in tremendous need of blood to meet local demands. Donating with Lee Health ensures donations stay in the community. Just a single pint of blood can help save the lives of several people. Donations can be separated into its different components; platelets may go to a child with leukemia, plasma to a patient with a clotting problem, and red blood cells to an accident victim.
