Calli Johnson, the wine steward for Bailey’s General Store, has some great connections and is celebrating the giving spirit of the season with a bottle of Blanc de Noirs.

“It has been a tough year for many, and we really wanted to offer our island wine lovers something special, something to celebrate the blessings we have, even in 2020,” she said. “I would absolutely adore tasting this bottle of wine, but we are giving it away to make someone’s year.”

“It’s a tasting-room-only bottle of sparkling wine that is only available in California at J Vineyards,” Johnson added. “We pulled some connections to make this happen.”

J Vineyards uses a gentle press to create the Blanc de Noirs, which is a white sparkling wine made from red grapes. Retailing for $65, the bottle will be part of a random raffle during Bailey’s Holiday Bubbly Preview & Virtual Wine Tour on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m.

Participants, who must be 21 or older, will need to purchase a wine package by Dec. 1 by emailing Johnson at cjohnson@baileys-sanibel.com or going online. They will receive a Zoom link for a tasting and tour of J Vineyards, led by E&J Gallo Winery Market Development Manager Mike McCahill and J wine ambassador Ali Lany.

The wines to be savored will be the J Vineyards Cuvée 20 Brut and J Vineyards Brut Rosé. One of Bailey’s chefs will have pairings available to match the tasting notes of each wine.

“J Vineyards is a brand close to our hearts because of the family business aspect of the winery,” Johnson said. “Judy Jordan founded J Vineyards in partnership with her father, Tom Jordan, of the famed Jordan Vineyard & Winery.”

“As many people know, we are a multiple generation family business, as well,” she added. “We love the attention to detail at J Vineyards and all of the wines they make are outstanding, even though they are especially passionate about their sparkling wines.”
