Zonta seeks candidates for public affairs award
The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva is seeking candidates in the Lee County School District for the annual Young Women in Public Affairs award and a $1,500 scholarship. The winner will also be passed along to compete at Zonta’s regional and district levels for possible additional honors and awards.
The YWPA Award recognizes young women ages 16-19 as of April 1, who demonstrate superior leadership skills and a commitment to public service and civic causes. “Public affairs” refers to all aspects of community life where decisions must be made about issues which relate to and affect those communities in which people work and live. The award also encourages young women to continue their participation in public and political life as they journey into higher education and work life.
The winner is likely to be a student who demonstrates: active commitment to volunteerism; experience in local, student government or workplace leadership; and volunteer leadership achievements.
The application can be printed from www.zonta.org. No later than Feb. 22, mail a hard copy of the completed application to: Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva, P.O. Box 1244, Sanibel, FL 33957.
