Historical village to hold volunteering training

The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village’s board and committee members will conduct a training program to get new volunteers started and to help current ones refresh their memories about the buildings, artifacts and stories to share with visitors.

It will take on Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. in Shore Haven at the village, at 950 Dunlop Road, Sanibel. The volunteers training will feature an overview of the site, as well as a walk through the grounds.

“Our training sessions are fun and a great way to meet people,” Executive Director Emilie Alfino said. “Anybody can volunteer, even if they start out without any knowledge of Sanibel history. We will teach you what you need to know and are always available to help.”

Volunteers can perform a wide range of duties, from being stationed in one of the village’s nine historical buildings and greeting guests, to helping with exhibits, archiving and administrative work.

New volunteers are needed. Those interested can contact Alfino at 239-472-4648.
