CECI supports F.I.S.H. of San-Cap
In support of the 10K Race 4 F.I.S.H., the Children’s Education Center of the Islands organized a nature trail hike. Thanks to F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva, the center has been supplied with an array of delivered snacks since June. The CECI held a canned food drive during summer camp to say thank you and participating in the annual 10K was another way for it to show its gratitude. The center asked families to register their children for the race or to donate directly to F.I.S.H. During the hike around the CECI’s 4.46 acres of land, students focused on the theme of “helping others.” Their educators read a book about helping others and discussed the importance of being kind. Tying in F.I.S.H. and how it helps the center was another way to connect to the theme. While they hiked through the trails, they took note of how different plants and animals help one another. At the end, the students were awarded F.I.S.H. 10K ribbons by Diane Cortese. Joey’s Custard donated a treat for the children to enjoy after.
