Kiwanis ‘Crush It Fore The Kids’ draws full slate
The Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Club held its 3rd Annual “Crush It Fore The Kids” golf tournament on Oct. 24 at The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club on Sanibel.
The event attracted a full slate of 72 golfers, competing in a two-person team scramble for the President’s Cup, while raising money for island youth programs. Proceeds from the annual tourney benefit the Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Foundation’s Scholarship Program for local students.
Craig Albert and Jeff Greenburg took the first place trophy with a score of 60.
The rest of the results are as follows:
– Second place: John Varkis and Bill Perrero with 60
– Third place: Paul Nichols and Roger Blouin, with 62
– Fourth place: Eric Carlson and Cheryl Perrero, with 62
In addition, the Closest to the Pin winners were Aaron Pruss on Hole 17 at 4 feet 11 inches and Cynthia Kautz on Hole 6 at 8 feet 6 inches. The Longest Drive winners were Tom Senft and Lisa Kendrick.
“The club is delighted that we could hold this event successfully, despite the headwinds created by the coronavirus. Our world may have changed this year, but the needs of our young people are still with us,” event organizer and past Kiwanis President Jason Smith said. “Our thanks go out to all the sponsors and participants.”
