Community Housing & Resources’ Manatee Madness is in full swing with the final delivery of manatees complete — and all 15 artists working on their creations.

Executive Director Melissa Rice announced that the deliveries went to artists who are supporting the cause from across the Sanibel Causeway. They include Cath Branwood, working with Live Art in Naples, and Danielle Branchaud, Ginny Dickinson, Kristina Jackson, Cheryl Logan, Taryn Manning and Brian Weaver from Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

“We are extremely grateful to our artists and supporters from the entire region,” Rice said. “After all, Sanibel is a sanctuary island not only enjoyed by those living here, but by thousands who come here from across the state, the country and the world. By supporting our Community Housing and Resources program on Sanibel, you are supporting our entire island community.”

The fundraiser is scheduled to begin in late December and go through late March, with an auction in April. The manatees will be placed around the islands at sponsor locations and will be available for observation and photo opportunities. Look for the Manatee Madness booklet coming out in December, which will include information on the artists and their manatees, plus a map of the sponsor locations.
