County library system providing virtual programming

LEE COUNTY

The Lee County Library System, which includes the Captiva Memorial Library, is offering the following free virtual programming for all ages:

FANDOM FEST

1 Oct. 28, to Oct. 31: Superheroes & Villains

This week’s lineup includes Family Fun Marvel Avengers Trivia Contest, Virtual Escape Room: Break Out Batman!, Cosplay DIY Workshop with Closet Chloe: “Quarantine Halloween,” Virtual Princess Party with the Beauty Princess, Kids Superhero Wrist Cuff Craft Video Demo, Teen/Adult Comic Book Keychain Craft Video Demo, view or submit work to the Fandom Art Gallery and enter the All Ages and Pets Costume Contest. ADULT PROGRAMS

– Oct. 28: Murder at the Library Book Club Author Presentation from 7 to 8 p.m.

In partnership with Sourcebooks, Baker & Taylor will host an exclusive live virtual book club event featuring best-selling author Caroline B. Cooney discussing her latest book, “Before She Was Helen.” The book is this month’s “Murder at the Library” book club selection and is available in print throughout the library system and electronically through OverDrive and Libby as an ebook. Advance registration required.

– Oct. 30: Medicare Annual Election Period from 2 to 3 p.m.

Join SHINE in its virtual classroom to learn about Medicare options, how to save on Part D costs and prepare for the Open Enrollment Period. The presentation is offered in conjunction with the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving seniors and adults with disabilities. Advance registration required.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

– Oct. 28: Stay At Home Fandom Storytime at 10 a.m.

The Captiva Memorial Library is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

It continues to offer curbside hold pick up Tuesday through Saturday.
