Richard Clifton recently won the Federal Duck Stamp Contest with a painting of a single lesser scaup drake, the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge reported. It is his second win, with the first being the 2007-08 stamp. Jim and Joe Hautman placed second and third, respectively. The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge’s namesake, Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling, was instrumental in creating the program in 1934 and designed the first duck stamp.
