Jim Fowler, publisher of The Sanibel-Captiva Nature Calendar, donated $800 on Oct. 8 to the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife. It marked the 32nd annual donation to a Florida-based conservation organization. Since first publishing in 1988, it has become a tradition each fall to donate a portion of the calendar proceeds to one organization listed inside the rear cover. To date, $25,689 has been donated. CROW was selected this year because of the lifesaving treatment it provides every day for sick and injured wildlife on Sanibel and Captiva and the neighboring areas, and because of its educational programs for the public and on-the-job training programs for science and veterinary students. Fowler stated, “For me, and I am sure many others, this group of wildlife caretakers provides crucial animal care that touches our hearts. In a world of expanding human encroachment and loss of wildlife habitat, CROW is a place where animals obtain a second chance at life.”
