‘Guess the Masked Authors’ at library
Stop by the Sanibel Public Library to “Guess the Masked Author.”
In the display case near the glass elevator, there are 16 photos of authors who are “wearing” a face mask. Can you name them all? Participants could win a library tote bag with some goodies.
The winner will be announced at the end of October.
Brainfuse is the latest pilot project funded in part by the Sanibel Public Library Foundation. It provides cardholders of all ages access to live online tutoring, whether attending school in person or working from home. The service is available from 2 to 11 p.m. each day of the week for students of all ages.
In addition to a variety of homework help with tutors in math, science, reading and social studies, Brainfuse offers PSAT/SAT, ACT, AP and state standardized test prep. Patrons can submit essays and other forms of writing to Brainfuse’s Writing Lab for constructive feedback. There is also a Foreign Language Lab and Spanish-Speaking support when logging in to Brainfuse.
Youth Services Librarian Deanna Evans creates new videos every week, with songs and stories. Check out her “Storytime with Ms. Deanna” on the library Children’s Page at https://sanlib.org/children.
Remote learners can also borrow Mobile WiFi Hotspots with their library card.
Contact-less curbside service is continuing, with hundreds of bags going out each week; call or go online to place a hold. Patrons will have three days — excluding Saturdays and Sundays — to pick up their items on hold. The hours for curbside pickup are Monday through Friday from noon to 3 p.m.
Library cards are available to residents of Sanibel and Lee County at no charge.
Visitor library cards are available for a $10 annual fee.
The Sanibel Public Library is open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library is closed on Sundays.
